ARTS 275(F) Sculpture: Cardboard and Wood Plus
This course is an introduction to the media and processes of sculpture. The focus will be on the interplay of form, concept, and material. A variety of materials will be explored, particularly cardboard and wood. There will be an emphasis on learning the techniques and processes of woodworking as related to sculpture, including joinery and carving. This course is based on as series of sculpture projects which will investigate both the formal and the conceptual aspects involved in creating personal statements in a visual format. A substantial amount of time outside of class is necessary to complete these projects. Evaluation will be based on the quality of work produced, depth and quality of investigative process, participation in critiques, and attendance. Prerequisite: one of the following: ArtS 100, ArtS 103, or ArtS 105. Lab fee. Enrollment limited to 12.
