RLSP 205(F) The Latin-American Novel in Translation (Same as Literary Studies 215)*

A course specifically designed to enable students who have no knowledge of Spanish to read and discover those Latin-American authors who, in the twentieth century, have attracted world-wide attention. Among the texts to be discussed: Borges, Labyrinths; Cortazar, Blow-up and Hopscotch; lesser works by Fuentes and Puig; and by Nobel Prize-winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez, One Hundred Years of Solitude. Requirements: class participation, two brief papers, a midterm, and a final exam. Does not carry credit for the Spanish major.
