As an examination of the structure and dynamics of certain aspects of religious thought, action, and sensibility-employing psychological, sociological, anthropological, and philosophical modes of inquiry-the course offers a general exposure to basic methodological issues in the study of religion, and includes consideration of several cross-cultural types of religious expression in non-literate and literate societies. Lecture and discussion. Requirements: a midterm paper and a final exam. Enrollment limited to 30.
