To the Williams Community,
I am pleased to announce that Tom Kohut, the Sue and Edgar Wachenheim III Professor of History, has agreed to serve as Director of the Williams-Exeter Programme at the University of Oxford for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2008.
The Director is responsible for all aspects of the programme, including the pairing of its 26 students each year with their Oxford tutors. In these responsibilities and others he will be well served by his experience as Chair of the Committee on Educational Policy and as Dean of the Faculty. He and his wife Susan will live in the director’s residence, which is part of our small campus near the heart of the city.
He succeeds Guy Hedreen, professor of art, and Liz McGowan, professor art, who have been directing the progamme jointly.
Our thanks go to Guy, Liz, and Tom for their willingness to serve in this capacity.
Regards,
M. Schapiro
