Resiliency is the capacity of an indicidual to adapt successfully despite challenging or threatening circumstances. College is fertile ground for encouraging resiliency. you can build resiliency in your classes, with your peers and by being in contact with professors. These experiences play an important role in fostering resilience.
How you can build your resiliency:
- Meet with professors. They encourage learning, praise you for your accomplishments and model good communication skills.
- You can gain resiliency by being in a safe and supportive place that helps you gain confidence and feel encouraged.
- Interaction with others, such as sports, clubs, and co-curricular activities, develop one's resilience.
- Spend time with adult or peer role models who inspire hope and focus on your strengths.
- Give yourself a voice, create new ideas, take advantage of leadership opportunities. these enhance your decision-making skills and ability to see your way through difficulties. Even if your ideas fail, you earn the experience of following something through from inception to conclusion.
