Federal Direct Plus Loan
Williams is a participant in the Federal Direct Loan Program. As a result we use the U.S. Governement as our lender; we do not accept PLUS Loan applications from private sources.
- Fixed rate is 7.90%. The interest rate can be reduced by .25% if the borrower enrolls in the Automatic Monthly Payment service.
- A 4.00% origination fee is deducted from the loan at disbursement. There is an up-front rebate of 1.50% for assumed on-time repayment of the loan. Therefore, the total amount deducted is 2.50%.
- For loans disbursed after July 1, 2008, payment can be deferred while the student is enrolled as at least a half-time student but the interest must be paid quarterly or it will be added to the principal of the loan. Parent borrower must request this option from the Direct Loan Servicer after the loan has been applied to the student's account.
