UGANDA FIELDWORK PILOT PROJECT
FY10 BUDGET

1. 5 Williams student stipends ($2000+$1600airfare=$3600) ……...$18,000.

2. Research team leader stipend & travel expenses………………..….…...............$ 7,000.

3. Site-based management …………….$1,000.

4. Ugandan trainer………………………………$500.

5. Research supplies & expenses (office supplies, host family payments)…...$ 2,600.

Uganda Budget Breakdown:

#1
Accommodation, food, bottled water & local travel: $300/week per student for 6 weeks plus $200 for miscellaneous expenses (including, but not limited to, insecticide treated bed nets).

Research team leader will arrive in advance of others to prepare and confirm arrangements and then live and work along side student researchers. Travel expenses: airfare, $1600, and $300/week for 8 weeks =$2400; Stipend: $3000.

Local NGO Site Manager responsible for identifying research sites and logistics in the field (locally-based so no need to pay field expenses). Stipend: $1000.

Ugandan professor to help with training students first week. Stipend: $500.

Host family payments for research project participation: $50 per family X 40 families = $2000. Research supplies (paper, pencils, photocopying, local phone calls, etc.): $600.

Students responsible for: visas, vaccinations, anti-malaria prophylaxis….
In-kind: Borrowing video equipment and laptop(s) from Williams
