Class of 1945 World Fellowship Program
Request for Proposals
The Faculty World Fellowship Program is made available through the generosity of a 50th reunion gift from the Class of 1945. It is designed to support research and study abroad during a semester leave and is targeted toward research that can promote conflict resolution, international understanding, and world peace.
The Faculty World Fellowship is awarded annually to an individual (or individuals) selected by the CAP. The Fellowship award will finance a research and travel budget to support the Fellow's program of study. The Dean of the Faculty, in consultation with the Provost, has established guidelines and funding limits for the program. Selection of the Fellow(s) is based on the applicant's scholarly and teaching ability, on the validity of the proposed program and on the potential of the program to strengthen the Fellow's future contributions to teaching and scholarship in a global perspective.
Eligibility: Faculty members scheduled for a leave in the next academic year who plan to conduct research and study abroad.
Application Procedures: Proposals should contain a project title, a descriptive summary and timetable of the proposed travel project, and a statement regarding the academic significance and context of the project within the faculty member’s overall plan of study during the semester leave. In the past, proposals have run anywhere from two to ten pages in length. A budget statement and updated CV should be included, and supporting materials (e.g. bibliography) are welcome.
Deadline: Proposals for the World Fellowship should be submitted by November 7 in the year prior to the intended travel. Please submit 7 copies to the Dean of the Faculty Office and 1 copy to your department chair. Announcement of the awards is made before the end of December.
