For Williams College corporate credit cards the following policy is effective immediately

The Corporate American Express Credit Card should be used only for travel on a commercial common carrier (commercial airplane, train, bus or boat) and rental of vehicles larger than a 9-person minivan. All other charges should be made on the Bank of America Purchasing Credit Card (MasterCard).

There have been significant changes to the Williams College Corporate Credit Card programs. Effective immediately, Bank of America has agreed to include Williams College in its Purchasing Card Rebate Program. Based on total College usage, Bank of America will return a percentage of purchases made on the purchasing cards to the College. The rebate will be credited to the College's general funds. Also, as you may already know, AMEX has started to charge a $15 membership fee for each card. This fee will be charged to your designated "default account" once per year when your card comes up for renewal.

Significant improvements have been made to the insurance coverage offered by both AMEX and the Bank of America Purchasing Card (P-Card). Both cards now include $350,000 of life and accident insurance when traveling on a commercial common carrier (commercial airline, train or bus). The AMEX card has extended coverage to include from the time you board the commercial common carrier to the time you exit the common carrier - in other words, if you buy a ticket on a commercial common carrier you are covered for the entire length of your trip from the time you board the commerical common carrier until the commercial common carrier arrives at your final destination (it does not cover you while getting to the airport, train or bus station or returning home from the same). This coverage is applicable to anyone whose ticket is purchased on the corporate AMEX. If a cardholder buys tickets for other travelers they are covered by the AMEX insurance. The P-Card only provides insurance while you are on the commercial common carrier. The P-Card only covers the cardholder.

It is still the case that the P-Card cannot be used to rent vehicles larger than a 9-person minivan. In the event you need to rent anything bigger than a minivan you must use the corporate AMEX.

This merely changes the method of payment from AMEX to P-Card or from paying by check to paying by P-Card. As always, corporate credit cards should NEVER be used for personal charges. This change should NOT increase total spending.
