Policies Concerning Campers and Conference-goers

Smoking/Liquor:

No smoking is allowed in or within 25 feet of any campus building. Individuals found with alcoholic beverages while on any public way or in a public place will be fined by the town of Williamstown. All local laws apply. The legal drinking age in Massachusetts is 21.

Pets:

The College does not permit pets to be brought to or housed upon campus.

Damage:

Your organization and participants will be held jointly and severally responsible and liable to the College for any and all losses, damages or thefts caused by your organization and/or its guests, including replacement of lost keys, linen and library books, and damage done to College property caused by same.

Recycling:

Mandatory recycling is in effect for paper and bottles and cans.

Parking:

There is no parking charge at Williams College, however, conferences do have assigned parking. Unless your vehicle has a currently valid disability plate or placard, please park in your conference's assigned parking to avoid getting ticketed or towed.

Electrical Appliances and Open Flame

No candles, incense or open flame devices are allowed in dorm rooms. Tampering with Smoke or Carbon Monoxide Detectors is illegal.
  • Items strictly forbidden in dorm rooms: coffee makers, crock pots, electric fry pans, toaster/toaster ovens, broilers, electric or gas stoves, air conditioners, cup warmers, deep fryers, bread makers, beer coolers, toasters, kegolators, hot plates, electric woks, hamburger/sandwich makers, rice cookers, any unit with a heating coil, and popcorn poppers (other than hot air).
  • Items allowed: clocks, computers, hair dryers, electric shavers, fans, microwave ovens of 800 watts or less, refrigerators of 5 cubic feet or less, and cool mist humidifiers.
