BIOL 313(S) Immunology
The immune response is a defense mechanism comprised of a complex network of interacting molecules and cells which function to recognize and respond to agents foreign to the individual. This course will focus on the biochemical mechanisms which act at the molecular and cellular levels to regulate this process. Textbook readings will be supplemented with current literature. Lectures and laboratory: six hours a week. Evaluation will be based on two hour exams, a final exam, a comprehensive lab report, and a research paper. Prerequisite: Biology 202.
