BIOL 308 Plant Growth and Development (Not offered 1999-2000; to be offered 2000-2001)
This course examines basic principles of plant growth and development with emphasis on how plants interact with their environment. Selected topics include: light responses, hormone physiology, plant-microbe interactions, morphogenesis, floral development, and meristem function. Laboratory activities stress modern approaches to studying plant biology including the use of genetic mutants. Lectures and laboratory: six hours a week. Evaluation will be based on problem sets, lab reports, hour exams and a final exam. Prerequisites: Biology 202. Satisfies distribution requirement in major.
