ENGL 305 Chaucer (Not offered 1998-99; to be offered 1999-2000)

A study of The Canterbury Tales in their literary, linguistic, and historical contexts. Combination lecture and discussion with practice reading Middle English aloud. Requirements: frequent quizzes on vocabulary and comprehension, two 5- to 7-page papers, a midterm, and a final exam. Prerequisite: English 101. Enrollment limited to 25. (Pre-1800)
