BIOL 314(S) Virology
This course will consider the molecular biology of animal, plant and bacterial
viruses, with the primary aim of demonstrating how the different replication
strategies of these viruses were elucidated. Other topics such as pathogenicity,
vaccine development, and viral/host coevolution will be examined. Readings
from a textbook and the primary literature will form the basis of class
discussions.
Evaluation will be based on exams and short papers. Discussions: three hours
a week. Prerequisites: Biology 313 or concurrent enrollment.
