PSYC 324 Memory (Not offered 1997-98; to be offered 1998-99)
This course will survey the research findings from the fields of cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, and neuropsychology to provide an introduction to recent development in the study of human memory. Topics include the nature of human memory and forgetting, infantile amnesia, autobiographical memory, the case for and against repressed memories, the developmental changes that occur in memory ability across the life span, the neuroanatomy of memory, brain damage and memory disorders, and the practical application of memory aids. Requirements: one hour exam, two short papers, a written report of research project, and class participation. Prerequisite: Psychology 221 or permission of instructor. Empirical Project
