PSCI 223(S) Politics of International Economic Development (Offered 1997-98 only)

Almost all countries have either gone through a process of economic development, or are actively trying to do so. Unfortunately, there is no general agreement as to how develop succesfully. This course will look at the politics underlying various theories of and experiences of economic development. It will also look at the relationship between international politics and economic development, and the international institutions involved. Finally, it will discuss critically current trends of globalization, and will examine how these trends affect the politics of international economic development. Requirements: Two papers and a final. No prerequisites.
