PHIL 102(F,S) Introduction to Metaphysics and Epistemology

How do we know and what can we know about human beings, nature, and God? What constitutes and what are the limits of human understanding? An introduction to philosophy by way of readings including Plato's Meno, Descartes' Meditations, Hume's Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding, Kant's Prolegomena, and some contemporary works. Emphasis on class discussion and the writing of critical papers. Requirements: frequent short papers, totaling 20-30 pages. Enrollment limited to 25 per section.
