LING 501(F) Practicum in Foreign Language Teaching

Pedagogical training in foreign language teaching for the foreign language teaching associates of the Departments of Romance Languages and German and Russian. The course will begin with an intensive one-day orientation followed by weekly workshop-style meetings devoted to language acquisition, methodology, problems of classroom management, and various tricks of the trade. Class members will prepare and conduct demonstration lessons in their particular language which will be critiqued and discussed by the group. The instructor will observe class sessions conducted by the teaching associates to be followed by individual consultations. Required for foreign language teaching associates of the Center for Foreign Languages, Literatures & Cultures. Requirements: attendance at all sessions, active participation, teaching demonstrations, and a short final paper. No final exam.
