CSCI 338T(S) Parallel Processing (Offered 1997-98; not to be offered 1998-99)

An introduction to the fundamentals of parallel processing. This course investigates the design, implementation, and theoretical analysis of efficient algorithms (arithmetic operations, sorting, matrix and graph problems, etc.) for a variety of parallel architectures (including vector and array processors, dataflow machines, systolic arrays, and general purpose multicomputers). Parallel hardware and simulators will be used to implement several programming assignments. Evaluation will be based on meeting participation, assignments, and exams. Prerequisites: Computer Science 256, or Computer Science 237 and permission of instructor.
