CHEM 201(F)-202(S) Organic Chemistry
This course provides the necessary background in organic chemistry for students who are planning advanced study or a career in chemistry, the biological sciences, or the health professions. It comprises the systematic study of the common classes of organic compounds with emphasis on theories of structure and reactivity. The coordinated laboratory work includes organic synthesis, structure-reactivity studies, and the identification of unknown compounds. Evaluation is based on three hour exams, problem sets, laboratory performance, including written lab reports, and a final exam. Lectures: three hours a week; laboratory: four hours a week.
