ARTS 275 Sculpture: Cardboard and Wood Plus (Not offered 2006-2007)
This course is an introduction to the media and processes of sculpture. The focus
will be on the interplay of form, concept, and material. A variety of materials
will be explored, particularly cardboard and wood. There will be an emphasis on
learning the techniques and processes of woodworking as they relate to
sculpture. This course is based on a series of sculpture projects which will have
you investigating both the formal and the conceptual aspects involved in
creating personal statements in a visual format. A substantial amount of time
outside of class is necessary to complete these projects.
Evaluation will be based on the quality of work produced, depth and quality of
investigative process, participation in critiques, and attendance. Lab fee.
Prerequisites: ArtS 100 or ArtS 103. Enrollment limit: 12.
