ARTS 241(F) Painting

In this course we will begin to explore the options that painting with acrylics has to offer. The class will be focused on developing necessary technical skills, such as the manipulation of color, value, surface, and texture. We will also begin to consider issues of content and representation by looking at a diverse range of paintings, both in the museums that we have on campus as well as in regular slide presentations.
Evaluation will be based on fulfillment of assignment objectives, technical execution/craftsmanship, conceptual and physical investment of time, participation in critiques, and attendance. Lab fee.
Prerequisites: ArtS 100. Enrollment limit: 15.
