A team-taught lecture course on the development of the novel as a literary form. Writers likely to be studied include Defoe, Austen, Bronte, Dickens, James, Woolf, Nabokov, and Morrison.
Format: lecture. Requirements: midterm and final exams, and occasional short writing exercises. Prerequisite: a 100-level English course, except 150. Enrollment limit: 100 (expected: 100).
