ARTS 211 (F) RECIPE FOR COLLABORATION: An Intersection of Art, Culture
and Food
This studio course is a process-oriented investigation of the challenges and >>rewards of artistic collaboration. It is open to students at different
stages of development in any/all areas of the arts, including dance, music,
writing, theater, and visual/studio arts. We will explore, in a laboratory
setting, methodologies of collaboration, as well as how questions of theory,
genre, medium, and tradition in one art form may apply as well to others.
The course will culminate in a performance piece developed by the class,
based on personal histories of food and culture. Collaborative projects
assigned to students working in different media will provide the material
for the performance. Assessment will be based on thoughtful participation in
studio exercises, the development of material both during and outside of
class time, research, and written assignments.
Enrollment limited to 10, by permission of the Instructor
