AMST 302(S) Junior Seminar: Takin' it to the Streets: The Sixties in America
This course will explore a number of facets of one of the most interesting and contested periods of modern American history, "The Sixties." Using historical studies, novels, memoirs, films, and music, the course will cover the impact and historical memory of the war in Viet Nam, the counterculture, the Civil Rights Movement, the Women's Movement, and the rise of the New Right. Format: discussion/seminar. Requirements: two critical essays and a final project carried out in consultation with the instructor. Prerequisites: American Studies 201. Enrollment limit: 25. Preference given to senior American Studies majors and those American Studies majors who have been or plan to be away their junior year.
