MATH 306 Chaos and Fractals (Not offered 2002-2003; to be offered 2003-2004) (Q)
This course is an introduction to chaotic dynamical systems. The topics will include bifurcations, the quadratic family, symbolic dynamics, chaos, dynamics of linear systems, and some complex dynamics. Format: lecture. Evaluation will be based on performance on homework and exams. Prerequisite: Mathematics 211. No enrollment limit (expected: 15). This is a quantitative/formal reasoning course.
