ARTS 280(F) Media and Performance
This course deals with performance and the moving image. Reading and viewing assignments and production workshops will explore different strategies for directing performance. Techniques will include those derived from theatrical and cinematic tradition, as well as strategies derived from conceptual art tradition. Students will produce at least 3 short videos. Requirements also include the discussion of assigned readings; responses to the required weekly screenings of illustrative films and videos; and critiques of students' ongoing video projects. Prerequisites: ArtS 100, Theatre 100, or permission of instructor. Enrollment limit: 12 (expected: 12).
