BIOL 305(F) Evolution

This course offers a critical review of contemporary scholarship on evolutionary biology. Topics include adaptation, speciation, coevolution, population genetics, and molecular evolution. Current problems, such as cultural evolution and sociobiology, also will be discussed. Assigned readings will be drawn from current research articles and overviews. Format: discussions/lectures/reading in the original literature, three hours a week. Evaluation will be based on problem sets, class discussions, two exams, and four essays. Prerequisite: Biology 202. Enrollment limit: 36 (expected 24). Preference given to Biology majors. Satisfies distribution requirement in major.
