A course in the basic problems and possibilities that arise in the composition of memoir. Individual meetings with the instructor will be available. Class sessions will be devoted to the discussion of both published and student work. Students will receive written critiques from other students as well as the instructor. Evaluation will be based on class participation, critiques of classmates' work, and the successful completion of several writing exercises and at least 30 pages of memoir. No prerequisites. Enrollment limited to 16. Interested students should preregister for the course and attend the first class. Selection will be based on writing samples.
