BIOL 402T(S) International Conservation
Biology (Same as Environmental Studies 404T)+
This tutorial will deal with current issues in international conservation biology:
Biodiversity, rates of extinction, spatial relationships within and among ecosystems,
migration of organisms across geographical and political boundaries, keystone
and charismatic species, impacts of invasive exotic species on native communities,
and approaches to genetic conservation of wild and domestic organisms.
Evaluation will be based on written tutorial assignments, oral presentations,
critical evaluation of tutorial papers presented, and discussion participation.
Enrollment limited to 8 students, preference will be given to senior biology majors.
Prerequisite: Biology/Environmental Studies 203 or Biology 204 (Animal Behavior).
Satisfies distribution and senior requirements in major.
