CHIN 401(F), 402(S) Advanced Chinese (D)
This course is designed to enhance the Chinese language proficiency of students who are already at relatively advanced levels. A wide assortment of materials is used including (for speaking/comprehension) audiotapes, videotapes, and films featuring Chinese speakers from various segments of society; and (for reading) newspaper and magazine articles dealing with Chinese politics
and economics as well as selections from modern Chinese literature. Conducted in Mandarin.
Requirements: two 75-minute classes plus a conversation session; primarily reading and discussion; students are required to write a short essay every other week. Evaluation will be based on classroom performance, homework, quizzes, tests, and a final exam.
Prerequisites: Chinese 302 or permission of instructor.
