Speaker Profile: Warren Blumenfeld
Currently Assistant Professor of MultiCultural Education, Curriculum and Instruction at Iowa State University, Warren J. Blumenfeld is the editor of Homophobia: How We All Pay the Price and the International Journal of Sexuality and Gender Studies. He is co-author of Looking At Gay and Lesbian Life and the author of Butler Matters: Judity Butler's Impact on Feminist and Queer Studies. In 1971 he founded te National Gay Students Center in Washington D.C. (which exists today as the National Queer Student Coalition of the U.S. Student Association. In 1981, he co-produced the 35 minute documentary "Pink Triangles," a film study of homophobia. His talk and slide presentation, "Making the Links: Homophobia and Anti-Semitism" demonstrates the similarities in the ways scapegoating has socially occurred in regards to the Jewish population and LGBT population.
