Gail Bouknight-Davis

Gail Bouknight Davis is the full-time Director of the Multicultural Center. As Director, she sustains connections to the campus community and provides overall leadership and operation of the Center. Dr. Bouknight-Davis earned her B.A. from Brandeis University and Ph.D. from Brown University in anthropology specifically interethnic relations. Her areas of study are ethnic minorities and interethnic relations, economic development and class, and migration and transnational identity.
She has taught courses in anthropology, Afro-American studies, race, class, and gender, and the politics of multiculturalism. Her publications include "Chinese Economic Development and Ethnic Identity Formation in Jamaica," Chinese in the Caribbean (ed. Wilson. Princeton, NJ: Markus Weiner Press, 2004) and Ethnic Markers: East Indians in Jamaica (Maryland: University Press of America, forthcoming).
