Williams Japanese Program - Teachers

The Department of Asian Studies has a program of Asian Language Teaching Fellows in Japanese and Chinese. Teaching Fellows acquire training and experience in language instruction while assisting faculty with supplementary language teaching.

Japanese Language Fellows typically possess a Master's in Linguistics, Japanese Language Pedagogy, or a related field, or substantial prior training or experience in language teaching at the college level. The initial term of the fellowship is one year, though fellows may apply for a second year at the end of their term. Responsibilities include class preparation, team teaching of language classes in cooperation with other faculty members, and other work in support of the Japanese language program.

Candidates interested in applying for the fellowship should see our advertisement on the employment sections of the web sites for the Association for Asian Studies or the Association of Teachers of Japanese in late fall each year.
