Instructions for basic use:
1. Find images:
Search with basic subject term or
Advanced search (mustard color tool bar)
Click on image, evaluate image using tools in gray tool bar (zoom, pan, maximize, etc.)
2. Select images:
Click on box next to image to choose images for a group
Click on “add to favorites” in purple tool bar
3. Organize image group: Open “my favorites” (purple tool bar)
Left purple tool bar functions:
Create “slides” for a presentation
Reorder (move) or remove an image
For impromptu viewing, use ”slideshow” to present image group as a live presentation in the classroom using comparison, zoom, or fit to window features, or
4. Download image group to your hard drive:
Download a “favorites” image group (left purple toolbar)
Save as webpage:
Name it (or not)
Click on box next to “presentation”
Click “create”
Web browser - File: “save as”, choosing site and: “webpage, complete (*.htm,*.html)” and
5. Integrate “my favorites” image group with other images in a PowerPoint presentation or ARTstor OIV presentation:
PC users:
a. Save as a PowerPoint presentation
download the PowerPoint plug-in per directions on the Visual Resources Center home page: Williams Collections Online / PowerPoint Plug-in
open PowerPoint
click on the ContentDM button below “file”
b. Integrate into the ARTstor Offline Image Viewer (OIV):
Open OIV, select local images from “Insert” menu, move images singly or as a group from “my favorites” group into the image palette.
MAC users:
c. Open PowerPoint, from “insert / new” move images singly from local favorites folder on your hard drive.
d. Integrate into ARTstor Offline Viewer (OIV):
Open OIV, select local images from “Insert” menu. May either drag and drop images singly or move as a group from local favorites folder on your hard drive.
6. Additional Features:
Set viewing preferences for finding images
Cut a detail from an image and save it as a slide
Present two images at a time in the classroom, or four images at a time with two projectors.
Create a randomized flashcard quiz
