ACCESS TO THE COLLECTION

FACULTY USE

All Williams faculty may borrow art slides. As the collection was developed specifically by art department faculty for their classroom needs, please respect the priority use of these slide images by art faculty. To ensure use among faculty, we ask that slides be taken out only for a period of 24 hours. If you require slides for a longer time period, or need one at the same time as an art faculty member, please see the Visual Resources Curator who can assist you with your need.

UNDERGRADUATE &
GRADUATE STUDENT USE

Students are allowed to borrow slides for classroom presentations. Slides may be pulled in advance of the presentation. These slides may be kept in either the Visual Resources Center in Lawrence Hall or in the Visual Resources Library of the Clark Art Institute until the day of the presentation. Students may use the light tables in the scanning/copystand room of the Visual Resources Center to organize and practice their presentation using either light tables or caramates. The slide library staff will assist students to arrange the slides correctly in advance of their presentations in either carousels or a presentation box.

SLIDE SCANNING

Faculty and students may scan certain slides for use in an academic presentation if the image is not available digitally, or is only available digitally of poor quality. Many slide images carry copyright restrictions; all slides chosen for scanning must be reviewed by the Visual Resources staff. The staff would prefer to work with you to find and/or create high quality digital images for your use and to add to the Williams VR Collection of Art Images.

COMMUNITY USE

Borrowing privileges for slide images may be extended to community users with the permission of the Visual Resources Curator.
