Rick is married to Mary Sugden who is a substance abuse therapist.
His step-daughter Rebecca Schoen, works at Boston University in the theology department.

In 1998 he was reunited with his birth father and was informed of his Native American heritage. Since then he has been very involved in Native American music and culture.

Rick is currently working with Israeli violist Yossi
Gutman recording music for an upcoming cd.
